Obama was in Buffalo. Sam Stein was in studio.

The HuffPost reporter visited with Lawrence O'Donnell, who was guest hosting Thursday's "Ed Show" on MSNBC.

During a segment about the economy, Stein and O'Donnell discussed the president's approach to long term unemployment, government priorities and the upcoming jobs bill. And, of course, why did Obama pick Buffalo? It didn't seem like the most welcoming venue for a speech about unemployment.

Stein also pointed out that Obama has actually wanted to focus on jobs for awhile, but the public's attention has been drawn to unforeseen problems like the attempted bombing in Times Square and the Gulf oil spill.
